Soraya Hennessy’s endeavors to create top quality accessories that reflect our core values. Our education into candle making led us to South America, a familiar place with boundless talent, heart and soul.  We were captivated by the story and craftsmanship of a fourth generation Ecuadorian candle maker, Pedro. Pedro’s work echoes his ancestor-taught, candle making technique, traditionally produced for churches of Quito, Ecuador. He has grown and evolved his family’s process by layering in fragrances and altering shapes, elevating the final product while utilizing his ancestral and artisanal teachings. Each of our SH candles is hand poured with 100% vegetable wax, into handmade artisan- crafted, ceramic- vessels. The result is an artisanal candle that preserves generational traditions, while incorporating contemporary designs and fragrances. We stand proud in our choice to produce 100% of our candles in Ecuador, South America, by real people, living authentic lives

Our fragrances are meant to evoke memories of peace, tranquility, passion and warmth. We hope our candles invite memories and light the way for new memories. It is an honor to be welcomed into your home.

Global Appeal

Fair Trade And Sustainable Practices

By working closely with local craftsmen and women, Soraya provides a stable source of employment to over 40 Wayuu families, rejecting the fast fashion business model in favor of a more sustainable, environmentally responsible production process.

SORAYA HENNESSY is committed to advancing the economic rights of indigenous women in Colombia and Venezuela. Through offering waged two times industry average for their art, Soraya empowers Wayuu women to become entrepreneurs themselves, as well as encouraging innovation and providing education and training to them and their families. Soraya also makes sure to meet with her artisans whenever she can, and knows the creator of each bag personally. She shuns faceless mass-production in favour of this fair-trade alternative approach, simultaneously supporting vulnerable Wayuu communities and raising awareness about sustainable practices. As all weaving is done by hand, in the home of the artisan without factories or machines, SORAYA HENNESSY champions responsible business practices that supports Wayuu people and the planet.
