Handmade in Colombia using the natural fiber known as “iraca” our Fringe placemats are perfect for your next backyard event. Iraca is a tropical palm native to Colombia that can grow up to 3 meters (10ft) tall and can take up to 3 years to reach maturity which then allows it to be used to create many crafts. Woven in a perfect circle, finished with fringe details, sewed in one by one, our handmade process makes this artisanal placemat one-of-a-kind. Its intricate design can take up to 3 days to weave each piece. With a natural original color, our Fringe placemats add an organic and elegant touch to your table setting. They are sized for a charger plate and matching coasters will make for the perfect dinning set up.

SORAYA HENNESSY is committed to advancing the economic rights of indigenous women in Colombia and Venezuela. Through offering waged two times industry average for their art, Soraya empowers Wayuu women to become entrepreneurs themselves, as well as encouraging innovation and providing education and training to them and their families. Soraya also makes sure to meet with her artisans whenever she can, and knows the creator of each bag personally. She shuns faceless mass-production in favour of this fair-trade alternative approach, simultaneously supporting vulnerable Wayuu communities and raising awareness about sustainable practices.
